Nook Color

If you haven't discovered the Nook Color yet and if you haven't found out exactly what it can do for your grandparents I suggest you take a look. The ipad is the king of the tablet market right now but if you don't have the bills to fork out on something like that you may want to check out the Nook Color. Bother my Grandfathers suffer from near blindness from old age. One has Parkinson's disease and the other is almost completely blind. Here in lies the use of the Nook Color. Essentially this is a high quality cheap android tablet that any older person can learn to use. You can download all the books you can handle and even better, audio-books. We recently purchased the Nook Color for my grandma. This way she can read books without having to go out and buy them and she can purchase audiobooks and podcasts for my grandpa to listen to. With his Parkinson's and blindness he doesn't have the ability to read like he used to. This is the miracle machine that allows him to continue to learn and grow. I just hope my grandma figures out how to use it. If you have a family member that has a hard time reading and seeing or if you just want to have something really cool to use to read go to barnesandnoble.com and enjoy.

Fantastic Desert!

So, in my house we have a rule, 1 treat a week. Well...my wife is better at following this rule than I am, but it works. The great thing about a rule like this is it enables you to truly enjoy that treat while not feeling bad. When you only have one treat a week to eat you aren't going to waste it on a crappy store bought cookie or a candy bar. You are going to savor the deliciousness of something exquisite and special. Something that makes you suddenly transported to a pastry shop in Italy or Germany. This is great for children because it helps them to eat healthy but then truly enjoy junk food in a way few other children probably ever will.
Here is a link to a great website and specifically the desert I made with my wife earlier. Watch the video and indulge.

Healthy Pizza

I am a huge fan of pizza but most of the time it isn't healthy. If you eat enough of it you'll become rounder than the pizza. Here's a great way to make pizza, keep it healthy and let everybody enjoy it the way they want. First, you need the ingredients.

All Wheat Pita bread- This is much healthier, quicker and less messy than making pizza dough.
Hormel light Turkey Pepperoni- This pepperoni has 70% less fat than regular and tastes just as good.
Pizza sauce- healthy, mostly just tomato sauce and seasoning.
Mozzarella Cheese- this is the healthiest cheese out there and if you want to go really healthy and get laughing cow cheese but I'm a guy so I don't necessarily want to be that healthy.

Add-ons: I'm a fan of healthy add-ons like green peppers, olives, mushrooms and whatever else you like. They're healthy pizza and each person gets to put on what they like. Great for dates, family dinner activity and a lot cheaper than buying pizza from a pizza shop.
Pre-heat oven to broil: cook 4-8 minutes

New Shows Worth Checking Out!

Amidst all the stinky crap coming on TV this fall, there are a few that actually stick out as worth mentioning, unfortunately nothing comes to mind on the CW. As for the other stations they do has some real interesting ones. I'll sift through all the crap and give you the ones I think are worth while.

First up is Fox. Monday's at 8:00 pm hosts Terra Nova: The hugely hyped show from Steven Spielberg about Dinosaurs and Time Travel. No, its not "Land of the Lost". Probably closer to Jurrasic Park. Looks awesome.
Next starting midseason is J.J. Abrams Alcatraz: This plot is way too thick to explain so I'll just let you watch the video below. All you need to know is it's got Alcatraz, and disappearing and reappearing criminals. Also, produced by J.J. Abrams, you can't go wrong!
The Finder is up next: If you haven't watched the episode of Bones that essentially is the pilot for this show you definitely need to. It's awesome and a perfect set up for the spin-off.
I wasn't going to mention this but come on, it's Napoleon Dynamite. Just check out the video.

CBS: Check out Person of Interest: Starring Jim Caviezel and from J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan. All I can say is it looks awesome! It has a lot of violence and killing and saving lives. Check it out.
On NBC: Check out Grimm: I have hopes for this one. It could be more Buffy the Vampire Slayer or more Supernatural. I'm hoping for the latter. We'll have to wait and see. The basic premise is a descendent of the Grimm family has discovered that all the creatures from the dark and creepy fairy tales are real and disguising themselves as humans. Cool premise, hope it's good.

RAGE!!!!

If you aren't excited for this game there is possibly something wrong with you. It's good to know that we haven't seen all we can from the Xbox 360 and PS3. All you have to do is look at the graphics and the vastness of Rage and you will be blown away. This will definitely be a future purchase. If Fallout 3 was too slow and time consuming for you and you got sick of having to go shopping for ammo every second, and if borderlands was a little too repetitive for you than Rage will be the cure all for this. Go HERE and check out some gameplay.

Rage comes from id software, the makers Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein. If there ever was a reason to check a game out this is it. Join the fan club and kill the nasty, disturbing looking beasts and mutants all contained in RAGE!

Camping Season!

Now, just because we're fans of electronics and video games doesn't mean we don't like to see the sun and rough the harsh terrain and frozen tundra of the ever so unforgiving wilderness. In the spirit of camping season I am going to introduce you to my favorite online camping store. If you haven't visited http://www.rei.com/outlet/ you are missing out. It's a great place to find quality camping, hiking and roughing-it gear for really cheap. Click the link and get out of the house for a bit.

L.A. Noire Release and Review

So, it's that moment we've been waiting for. The release of L.A. Noire! There are few games that I ever buy new but this will probably be one of them. I will share why I'm buying it new shortly. L.A. Noire definitely has a different take on video games and borders between game, movie and choose your own adventure book. I've always wanted to play detective and actually have to think while playing a game. Very rarely does a game come out that forces you to use the old egg shell. This looks to be one of them. I will post the link to the review of the game and also if you are one of the many that want to go out and buy it here is the link to the best deal I've found. This may actually be the best deal I've ever seen on a new video game and the reason I'm buying it out of the gate. Kmart is giving away $4o worth of stuff for a $60 game. You buy the game and get a $20 game free plus a $20 gamer card for the purchase of future games. These are the games and the selection while few isn't that bad. Several noteable games I noticed are Gears of War 2 GOTY, Halo 3 ODST and Mass Effect 2 (xbox 360) For the PS3 they have Bioshock 2, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Spiderman Web of Shadows. It's a great deal. I'd jump on it quick. Click the links for the L.A. Noire reviews from Gamespot and IGN.
